Maryvilles
Communications Department is currently manned by five
full time Tele-communicators. The Tele-communicator handles
all radio traffic by the officers. They answer and
dispatch 9-1-1 emergency calls and service the public in
person and on the telephone. Tele-communicators have completed the 80 Hour Basic Tele-communicator Training Course and must be certified in EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatching), CPR, LEADS (Law Enforcement Agency Data System), TTY/TTD (for hearing or speech impaired callers), Hazardous Materials course, and Blood-borne Pathogens. Twenty Four (24) hours of Continuing Education classes must be completed every 2 years and must pass a written exam for re-certification. Continuing Education training classes also include: Domestic Violence training, Critical Incident/Mass Casualty, Hostage Negotiation/Suicide Prevention, Stress Management, and various other courses.
